GANS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

This June 3rd event will commence with the GANS AGM and a light breakfast (please register so we can plan accordingly)

Nominations for the 2014/15 GANS Board are now being accepted via [email protected] .

Available positions include President, Vice President, and several Board of Directors. This is a great opportunity to get involved with a dynamic group of people and make a difference in our geomatics community.

And for those who want to help out but are not ready to commit to one of those roles yet, GANS also has several workgroups (Communications, Membership, Education ...) available that members are encouraged to participate and help out with.

Questions about commitment? Send Dave MacLean an e-mail - [email protected].

SPECIAL PRESENTATION ON ACOA PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) works to create opportunities for economic growth in Atlantic Canada by helping businesses become more competitive, innovative and productive, by working with diverse communities to develop and diversify local economies, and by championing the strengths of Atlantic Canada.

ACOA puts special emphasis on initiatives that foster:

• Greater productivity

• The commercialization of innovative technologies

• Improved global competitiveness

• Skills development

We've invited Account Manager, Connor Smithers-Mapp, to provide an overview of ACOA’s programs and services that may be of benefit to GANS members.

TRANSLATING THE CGCRT NATIONAL STRATEGY INTO LOCAL ACTION (WORKSHOP)

The workshop will be chaired by GANS Board member James Boxall.  James is also a Co-Chair of the CGCRT.  In order to facilitate responses to the draft strategy, we have asked James to compile some resources to prepare workshop attendees.

GANS CGCRT Draft Strategy Workshop Resources

We ask that you peruse what James has compiled through the link above and choose one or two dimensions that are of the greatest interest to you.  Come on June 3rd prepared to discuss these topics.  GANS Board members will be compiling notes on our discussions to present in Ottawa on June 9-10th at the CGCRT Geomatics Strategy, Action, and Implementation Planning Workshop.
