  • GANS invites you to come celebrate Geography Awareness Week /GIS Day 2014 with a series of presentations and celebratory cake at the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History (1747 Summer Street, Halifax) At 6pm to 8pm. From 6pm to 6:30 you will be able to view the our Science on a Sphere Exhibit then come downstairs to the Auditorium for the presentations and celebratory cake.

Chris Turner (Bio)

Title: Everyone likes Sausage, but no one wants to know how it’s Made

delivering a presentation aimed to help students be successful in the Nova Scotia job market.  This presentation will talk a bit to the growth of SEG as well as how students can develop their own entrepreneurial endeavors and be successful upon graduation.


Jeff McKenna (Bio) 

Title: The Open Geospatial Community 

Jeff operates a local geo business, Gateway Geomatics, and is also an internationally regarded leader in Open Source geo, as the current President of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo)


Shiju Mathew B Sc, Dip. Cartography, GISP  (Bio) 

Title: Stormwater Billing – Impervious Area Connecting GIS and Finance.

Shiju gave this presentation at the International ESRI User Conference in California - summer 2014.
